WARNING! CRA EMAIL SCAM
SCAM ALERT!
Please be aware that there are currently fraudulent emails being sent to individuals from scammers purporting to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (“CRA”), requesting you to click on a link in order to receive a refund. DO NOT CLICK THE LINK!, it is a SCAM!
Below is an example of one of these emails:
Subject: Canada Revenue Agency has sent you an INTERAC e-Transfer ID: 999999999
Dear: Individual@gmail.com
Canada Revenue Agency has sent you an INTERAC e-Transfer (previously INTERAC E-mail Money Transfer)
Amount: $440.00 (CAD)
Sender Message: A message was not provided
Expiry Date: 03/02/2016
Action Required:
To deposit your money, click here

Protect Yourself! – Know how to identify a scam
CRA will never:
- send an email with a link to ask you to provide personal or financial information
- ask for personal information via email or text
- request payments via prepaid credit card
- leave personal information on an answering machine
CRA will:
- send a registration confirmation email to the address you provided for online mail service for an individual or a business; and
- send an email to the address you provided to notify you when new online mail is available to view in the CRA’s secure online services portal.
